Getting to know you...our favorite part of the job!

Company culture and employee morale are two important topics companies are discussing now more than ever. How do we get employees actively engaged and excited to come to work? How do we get employees where they need to be faster and growing to their highest potential?

The above picture is  a representation of the most recent study about employee engagement by Gallup. The study found “engaged” employees at an all-time high in the last 18 years at 34% (red), “non engaged” employees at 53% (yellow), and “actively disengaged” employees at its lowest of 13% (blue).

As defined by Gallup:

  • Engaged employee – those who are involved in, enthusiastic about, and committed to their work and workplace
  • Non-engaged employee - will generally show up to work and do the minimum required but will quickly leave their job for a slightly better opportunity
  • Actively disengaged - this employee has no interest in providing any benefit, and is actively harming the business and culture around them

So we revisit those two questions:

How do we get employees actively engaged and excited to come to work?

How do we get employees where they need to be faster and growing to their highest potential?

At RMA our culture is an intrinsic part of our existence. Our purpose is to empower both our employees and our clients to be better tomorrow than they are today. We do this through active and ongoing employee engagement initiatives. We feel that by establishing a positive company culture you allow employees to feel comfortable contributing ideas that help the firm grow, and make them feel like they are part of the company’s success. We believe the more you can collaborate as a team, increases the amount of solutions you can find, and allows growth to come faster and smoother. Below are some good tools we have found helpful in creating a better culture here at RMA.

  • Implementing company core values
  • Continual education for employees
  • Management books
  • Employee surveys
  • Semi-annual reviews
  • Internal round tables
  • Team-building/social events

The cost of employee turnover is high, both in terms of hard costs to recruit and onboard new employees and in impact to morale. It Is well worth it to take a candid assessment of employee engagement and satisfaction. Employers can then decide what tools will work best within their business to boost employee engagement and growth. Happy employees help businesses thrive–a win-win for employees and employers alike!
